Azerbaijani boxers shine with double gold at European Championships

Azerbaijani boxers have once again asserted their dominance on the European stage, clinching not one, but two gold medals at the prestigious European Championships.

Adding to this triumph, another Azerbaijani pugilist emerged victorious at the European Youth Championship, further solidifying the nation's prowess in the sport, Report informs.

Omar Aslanli, competing in the 54 kg category, etched his name in the annals of Azerbaijani boxing history as he ascended to the pinnacle of the podium at the European Youth Championship, held in the picturesque city of Porec, Croatia.

Aslanli's journey to glory culminated in a breathtaking final showdown, where he faced off against Ukrainian contender Maxim Chekin. In a fiercely contested match, Aslanli showcased his skill and determination, ultimately prevailing over his opponent with a score of 4:1, as the judges' scorecards revealed (30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 28:29).

This remarkable victory not only secured the gold medal for Aslanli but also served as a testament to the unwavering commitment and dedication of Azerbaijani athletes in their pursuit of excellence.

The triumph of Aslanli adds to the earlier success of Bilalhabashi Nazarov, who triumphed in the 48 kg category, clinching the championship title at the European Championships. Together, Aslanli and Nazarov's remarkable achievements have propelled Azerbaijan to the zenith of European boxing, reaffirming the nation's status as a powerhouse in the sport.
