Azerbaijan to host international ski mountaineering competition

Azerbaijan’s Shahdag Tourism Centre will host an international ski mountaineering competition on March 9-10.

The tournament will be held jointly by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation, the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation and the Shahdag Tourism Centre, Report informs.

About 60 athletes from 11 countries will take part in the competition.

The representatives of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee and the Winter Sports Federation will observe the tournament.

The International Ski Mountaineering Federation included in its calendar a tournament on vertical and sprint races.

Azerbaijan would submit application to the International Ski Federation to host the international ski competitions in slalom, giant slalom and super G Alpine skiing at the Shahdag Tourism Centre.
