Azerbaijan detects over 150 mines in liberated lands
The Mine Action Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (ANAMA) has published a weekly review on the volume of operations in the territories liberated from occupation.
Some 59 anti-personnel mines, 100 anti-tank mines, 380 unexploded ordnance were revealed in Tartar, Aghdam, Agdere, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khojaly, Khankendi, Kalbajar, Gubadli, Khojavend, Jabrayil and Zangilan districts from April 22 to April 28. Around 1,245 hectares have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance, ANAMA told Caliber.Az.
A total area spanning 1,429.1 hectares was successfully cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance, ANAMA noted.
The demining operations are a collaborative effort involving ANAMA, the Defence Ministry, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Border Service. Together, they are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the liberated areas, allowing civilians to return to the liberated lands.
ANAMA's ongoing efforts reflect Azerbaijan's commitment to post-conflict reconstruction and humanitarian relief in the districts affected by the conflict. By systematically clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance, Azerbaijan intends to create safe conditions for displaced communities to return home.
