Armenian PM avoids meetings with associates

27 April 2024 10:05

According to Armenian Zhoghovurd newspaper, tensions are mounting within the Armenian government as Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other representatives of the executive branch continue to evade meetings with members of the ruling party.

The newspaper highlights that MPs from the ruling party have been eagerly anticipating discussions with Pashinyan, particularly following the recent meeting in Brussels, where pressing matters such as the demarcation of the border were expected to be addressed, Caliber.Az reports.

Despite repeated attempts by MPs to schedule meetings with Pashinyan, they have been met with resistance as the Prime Minister reportedly avoids these engagements for over a month now. Even scheduled meetings with key figures like Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan have been canceled, with the explanation that important foreign visits are imminent.

This reluctance to engage with fellow government officials has raised concerns among MPs, who see it as a barrier to addressing critical issues and obtaining much-needed clarity on pressing matters. The report suggests that this avoidance may stem from a desire to withhold information or to avoid revealing potentially contentious details.
