Armenia retained Azerbaijani territories under occupation for 30 years - pundit Ustyan

27 April 2024 12:58

“Your prime minister has been proving to the world community and the Armenian people including on all platforms of existing ones for a year now that he does not know where the Armenian border passes. What you said in this broadcast that we are surrendering our lands, I can give you dozens of cases when Mr. Pashinyan says that we can't understand where Armenia begins and where it ends.”

As Caliber.Az reports, political analyst Robert Ustyan said this on the air of an Armenian TV channel.

“Mr. Pashinyan himself repeatedly tells the Armenian people that we need to understand where the Armenian border runs. I am not an advocate of the CSTO, but is it really surprising to you that the CSTO today says that they cannot understand what to defend in Armenia?

“Moreover, I don't want to look like a lawyer of the CSTO or Russia here. Mr. Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, says that we agreed with Armenia everything to the end, to the comma, before the declaration was made and the next morning it was to be published. In the morning, the prime minister said that we are not going to sign it. Can you explain to me what went wrong? I'm talking about the Yerevan meeting. You are talking about documents, let's talk about documents.

“When Armenia joined this organization, let's not forget that for many years the CSTO turned a blind eye to the fact that Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan. Look, please, I urge you and all our listeners to watch Mr. Kocharyan's interview with Mr. Karaulov, a Russian journalist, who, laughing in his eyes, says that we will not leave these territories because it puts Nagorno-Karabakh in danger. What are you talking about? A million Azerbaijani people have become refugees because of this. It is very clear to me now, that when Armenia has been occupying someone else's territory for 30 years under different pretexts, you turn a blind eye to it. You cannot accept it.

“Let's talk seriously, why then did Armenia not implement those four resolutions (of the UN Security Council), why did it not leave this territory? Listen, Mr. Stepanyan, you say that I should not pay attention to the words of the Armenian president, you say that Armenia has never been recognized as an aggressor. Then let's reveal the secret to our viewers why it was so.

“Because every time Russia vetoed, because it did not give any attempt of Azerbaijan, it was because of its position in the UN Security Council that it blocked. No, of course, you and I can go into sophistry and say that Armenia has nothing to do with it. It seems to me that if we exclude Armenia, then why did Mr. Pashinyan take any action at all? If you tell me that Armenia is Armenia, Azerbaijan is Azerbaijan, in August, right after his re-election, Mr. Pashinyan, opening the All-Armenian Sports Games, shouted from the square that ‘Artsakh’ is Armenia, and that's it.

“When Mr. Pashinyan was dancing in Shusha, where you were, Mr. Stepanian, what are you saying, Armenia had nothing to do with Nagorno-Karabakh at all? We can, of course, hold our viewers as idiots and say that Armenia had nothing to do with it, but I am somehow serious about our viewers and I don't want to take away their time for this level of discussion. However, your position is crystal clear.

“`I am not me, I am not me, and the horse is not mine’, that let the Armenians of Karabakh sort it out for themselves is a good position, I am very glad. Just a second, the military of Nagorno-Karabakh, in principle, the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, the armaments of Nagorno-Karabakh, whose money was used to maintain and purchase them? That is, what level of argumentation is it to say that Armenia had nothing to do with the Karabakh conflict and in general, that it had nothing to do with it,” the political expert said.
