Iraq sets up military bases on border with Türkiye

Iraq has established two military bases on its border with Turkey for the first time in a long time.

Iraq has established two bases near the Turkish border for the first time since the Gulf War, Hürriyet reports.

"This decision was made in coordination with Turkey. These bases are not directed against Türkiye. On the contrary, they were opened to defend its own borders with Türkiye's logistical support," the publication wrote.

The publication also reported on thorough preparations for the Turkish Armed Forces' military operation against the Kurdistan Workers' Party in northern Iraq.
